The dust hasn’t event settled on the Kilkenny Chamber Business Awards (at time of writing, the band are only into their first set) but a great night was had at the Lyrath Estate Hotel for the annual Kilkenny Chamber Business Awards, this year sponsored by Glanbia.

Local businesses the length and breadth of the county were competing for awards in 20 categories on the night at a sold out awards ceremony hosted by RTE’s Mary Kennedy.

Outside of the 20 category awards, there are three key awards handed out each year – the Lifetime Achievement award, the President’s Award (presented by this current president Martin Costello) and the Overall Business of the Year award.

The first, the Lifetime Achievement award was presented to long-standing Kilkenny retailer Jim Bourke. Kilkenny senior county manager Brian Cody was the recipient of this year’s President’s Award, an award he recognised as a team award for the work put in by Kilkenny hurling and hurlers year round.

Finally, the Overall Business of the Year award went to Patrick Street based firm Brian Dunlop Architects.
