It was a busy weekend at Kilkenny Rugby Club with all senior sides in action across Saturday and Sunday and we were on the sidelines to catch Kilkenny firsts take on Newbridge in their Leinster League Division 1B encounter.

With rain spilling down for most of the first half at Foulkstown, it took Kilkenny a while to get into gear, but when they did, the notched up four first half tries, going into the break 24-0 to the good.

Newbridge found their legs in the second half and recorded three tries of their own, but Kilkenny answered every score and walked away 41-19 winners. Here’s a look at some of the action.

The win today sees Kilkenny hang on to second place in Division 1B, trailing league leaders Gorey by 2 points who retained their top spot bbeating Longford 21-0 at The Demense earlier today. Elsewhere, Tullow picked up their third win of the league beating Wicklow at Black Gates 24-10. Kilkenny have break next weekend with the bank holiday then get back to action at 2.30pm on 2 November for a top of the table clash against Gorey in Clonattin.

Also in action today were Kilkenny seconds, beating Carlow 36-26 having also had a comprehensive lead drop to late tries while the Kilkenny Ladies went down 12-7 to Tullamore. On Saturday, Kilkenny’s thirds tied 7-7 with Suttonians.
