The curtainraiser to today’s Provincial Towns Cup clash between Kilkenny and Carlow was Kilkenny’s Leinster League Women’s Division 2 clash with Arklow. But for a two point deduction earlier in the season, Kilkenny could be sitting in third but today’s win keeps them in fifth spot, two places higher than second-from-bottom Arklow.

Kilkenny are away to NUIM Barnhall next on 8 February while their final league game of the current campaign comes against Gorey, again serving as a curtainraiser for the second round of the Provincial Towns Cup on 22 February when Kilkenny’s first XV take on New Ross.
