The Irish Times have been on the hunt recently for the Best Shops in Ireland 2014 and they’ve whittled down the list of almost 2,700 to a more easy-to-digest 100. With the winners due to be announced on 6 September, it’s great to see two Kilkenny entries in there.

Glasraí & Goodies on Main Street in Gowran are on the shortlist for Best Artisan Shop & Greengrocers. Competition is high in that category with heavweights including Caviston’s and Fallon & Byrne (both Dublin), McCambridge’s in Galway and Ardkeen Quality Food Store in Waterford also on the list.

Rudolf Heltzel has a one-in-four chance of walking away with Best Shop Window, goign up against a trio of Dublin businesses including Ginkgo Florist on Baggot Street, Coco Atelier on Drury Street and The Garden at Powerscourt Townhouse Centre.
